We are Nonie, a native New Yorker who finds great joy in entertaining, and Tita, a native of Umbria who loves to cook. Umbriacooks4u grew out of our longtime friendship, which began in 1974 at the University of Perugia, capital of Italy's Umbrian Region.
We give one-day cooking lessons that focus on the culinary traditions of Umbria and Italy. Classes take place in a warm, relaxed family atmosphere in Tita's elegant home, located on a hillside with ancient olive groves and views of the Umbrian countryside.
In Tita's state-of-the art kitchen we share her family secrets for traditional Umbrian dishes. Under our guidance, you can prepare local specialties using the best regional commodities: olive oil, prized lentils, cured meats, mountain cheeses, a variety of wines. Lessons include several different appetizers, two first courses such as pasta and soup, and a second course of meat and vegetable. Umbrian wines and two desserts complement these elegant meals. The menu can be tailored to your preferences, accommodating both meat-eaters and vegetarians. Upon request we can also come to you, providing cooking lessons at your villa rental. And in the dining room of Tita's hillside home, we serve full-course Umbrian meals to groups as small as four and as large as ten.
