Cooking With Friends in France is a six-day cooking school vacation located in the former house of Julia Child in Provence. At La Pitchoune Julia and Simone "Simca" Beck wrote their Mastering the Art of French Cooking series. Kathie Alex, a former student of Simca's and the present owner of the house, started Cooking With Friends in France in 1993 to keep the culinary tradition of Julia and Simca alive at La Pitchoune and to share the cuisine and culture of Provence with her students.
This culinary immersion program features cooking classes; market, cheese ripening cave, and butcher shop tours; classes with professional chefs; lunches at Michelin two-starred restaurants; and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook in Julia Child's former Provence kitchen, located just 35 minutes from Nice.
~$2,450 (subject to exchange rate) includes shared lodging & private bath, breakfasts, lunches, cheese tastings, planned excursions (car required). Lodging at La Pitchoune, private home formerly owned by Julia Child.
